Great Lakes Womens Shelter opened in January 2016 in response to a critical need for short term emergency accommodation and support for women experiencing domestic violence or homelessness. A safe nurturing environment is provided, allowing women the chance to rebuild self-esteem and control of their lives.


The brand had to reflect a warm, safe and nurturing environment.


The logo is based on a Baboushka Doll. This is an ideal feminine symbol which evokes protection and security. The repeated shapes increasing in size also imply growth. A clean contemporary font with curved characteristics adds to the friendly feel.


The logo has been applied to business cards, banners and internal publications.  A polka dot pattern adds interest and a sense of homeliness.
